Project Duration: October - December 2023

Improving the overall gym experience by focusing on convinent access to unique supplements
As gym users ourselves, we could relate to the desire to prioritize one's health, but not being able to achieve our goals due to confusion about supplements, lack of time and monetary restraints. Our team found that there were no drink machines that offered a wide enough variety for gym users (largely limited to soda or water options) or wide enough customization options. We also noted the more recent use of refilling drinking stations on college campuses and gyms that help to reduce plastic waste.
How can we combine these experiences to create a customizable fitness drink kiosk that allows users to meet their fitness goals?
Understand
ONLINE RESEARCH— We conducted competitive analysis amongst existing soda machines on the market, including Coca Cola Freestyle and Sodastream, as well as general research on health supplements, environmental considerations, and machinery.

FIELD OBSERVATIONS — We were interested in learning more about other gym users’ behaviors and fitness regimens (for example, what kinds of supplements/drinks they consume to support their fitness journey). We were also inspired by current customizable drink kiosks, but have not seen any related to health/fitness, or that allowed you to control the exact quantities of ingredients.

FINDINGS:
- Dispenses flavored water only
- Dispenses water only (intended for refilling water bottles)
- Dispenses water and soda (customizable but unhealthy)
